Jo McLachlan

passionate about keeping customers

Jo McLachlan has a simple philosophy in her role as Sales Rep of the Bay of Plenty, Waikato and Waipa districts for Swap Stockfoods. That is to work hard to keep customers and to always offer them great service.

Primarily in sales Jo was the second salesperson employed by Swap Stockfoods four and a half years ago to help grow their stock foods business. In this time she has seen the portfolio of products Swaps offer grow from just Palm Kernel Extract (PKE) to the introduction of Tapioca, DDG (Dried Distillers Grain), Canola, Soya, Wheat Bran Pellets and Mineral Boost. Additionally through the addition of auger trucks for silo deliveries Swaps have been able to introduce mineral mixes to their produce range.

In these four and a half years Jo has built up clientele and really believes in building sound relationships with her clients. “If you get on well then business is easier” states Jo. “You have to get out on farm to make sure everything is OK. It’s my job to offer the service”.

Jo is often seen over at the Port at Mount Maunganui helping on the weighbridge when there is a shipment of PKE to unload. She assists other newer sales reps with any queries and also manages many of the shows and events that Swap Stockfoods are present at, having just had discussions on the Matamata A&P show. Jo loves the variety and really enjoys working for Swaps. “They are a very family oriented business and it filters down”.

I leave Jo after our farm visit knowing that Swap Stockfoods is in good hands. Her commitment to working hard to keep customers and her enjoyment at watching the farming families she deals with over the years grow up before her eyes, demonstrates to me that she really does ‘walk the talk’.
